The situation in Colombia

For the last twenty years, Colombia has had strong economic growth and has become the third economically most powerful nation in Latin America.

However, the internal armed conflict in its ever-growing complexity is still a considerable obstacle for the sustainable development of the country and has a harmful effect on the government, human rights and fair economic development, particularly in rural areas.

The humanitarian situation is complex and has caused the forced displacement of more than 6 million Colombians, with a total of 7,7 million victims currently registered by the Institute for Attention and full Reparation for Victims (UARIV). Statistics show that 33% of the victims are minors.
